Begin or improve your handstand at this handstand & Inversion workshop in Soul Yoga Cork . It doesn’t matter if you have never even tried one. If you are looking to get over your fear of going upside down this is for you.
I have lots of variations, props, tools and skills to start you on your journey or to improve your handstand hold or handstand leg tricks. . A fun, creative movement style class suitable for everybody including beginners, no matter what stage of the journey you are on.
We spend lots of time improving wrist and shoulder mobility through strength and flexibility exercises ranging from Yoga, gymnastics and calisthenics. We work on core & leg strength through handstand drills and mobility movement techniques. Then we use the wall to improve upper body strength and balance and to improve awareness while changing our perspective. . Only 15- 20 minutes is spent upside down (optional) at the end. The rest is preparation which is key to progression.

These are my all-time favourite workshops because we really get to progress together with something challenging and fun. We really need some playtime in our lives these days and this it is such good way to build strength, increase mobility, find balance and stability, let go of fear and change our perspectives. All of what we learn on the mat has a ripple effect into our daily lives off the mat. The joy of Yoga. We get to reap the benefits of our practice in so many areas of our lives. While its challenging and fun it is also sometimes dangerous, please be super mindful in this class and listen to the instructions.
There are people of all levels on this workshop so please do not be afraid of me or others seeing where you are at. Also of of safety please don’t be over enthusiastic to the point of hurting yourself. Note that handstands are always a work in progress, they take weeks, months or in my case years to progress in tiny stages.
Patience and PRACTICE is key followed by strength, alignment and mobility. We will be holding these monthly either on Friday eve or Sat morning so that you can track your progression over time.
