What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a variation of traditional pilates. This method strengthens the body as a whole system, improving core stability, posture, and increases mobility and body awareness. 

This workout is practiced on a reformer machine which includes a moving carriage, springs and straps that help to create resistance and support during the practice. With the help of these elements students can safely work with precision and allow them to adapt the exercise to their own level. 

Who is a Pilates Reformer for? 

Reformer Pilates is for everyone, there is no specific age, gender or body shape. Whether you are completely new to the world of Pilates, or you’re an advanced student looking to try a new method, reformer is suitable for everyone. As a studio, we recommend students who haven’t tried pilates before to join a couple of our Mat Pilates classes to teach them the foundation and to prevent possible injuries (check our timetable).

Levels of Reformer Pilates at Soul Yoga Cork: 

Reformer 1: The Foundation of Reformer 

These classes move at a steady pace, with plenty of time for students to learn how the reformer works and how to move safely during the practice. Throughout the weeks, you will build a strong base and confidence. We recommend two classes per week at least for your body to adapt to this new practice. 

Reformer 2: Intermediate (experienced students) 

These classes have been designed for students who feel comfortable on the reformer and are looking to deepen their practice, challenge themselves. Each session will consist of flowing  sequences, stronger resistance –always adapted to each student’s needs and room for modifications–. 

Reformer 3: Advanced

This class is for students with solid experience practising reformer pilates. The class will include advanced and dynamic sequences that will challenge your body and mind.
